That was quick… February has came and went. We have entered the CrossFit Open season and the energy, nerves and courage are in the air. 18.1 is in the books and I am proud of all of those who hesitantly took on that 50 or 35lb Dumbbell or Toes to Bar,only to surprise yourself with how well you really did with a 20 minute AMRAP! This is what the Open is about. Taking on a challenge, the nervous feeling of not knowing how it will go or if you will be able to RX the movements given. Only 4 more weeks of this gut churning feeling ahead of us. In the end it will have been so worth the feeling of accomplishment and since of PRIDE this competition has given you.

Do you want to work on your lifting skills? CFP offers lifting classes included in your membership on Thursdays @ 5:30pm and Saturday @ 7:30am. This is a great opportunity to have the movements broken down, spending an hour with Coach Jeff helping you to identify your errors and correct them to improve movement patterns and of course to help us LIFT MORE WEIGHT!

CrossFit Open 2018

The Open started last week 2/22/18 and continues for the next 4 weeks with one workout per week released each Thursday @ 5pm pacific time and closes Mondays @ 5pm pacific time. We are offering the Open WOD each Friday as our Daily WOD as well as hosting Friday Night Lights at 5pm on Friday nights. Reminder there is NO Mash & NO Yoga on Friday’s until the Open is over and then we will resume with our regular scheduled classes. Please remember that YOU are responsible for submitting your scores and WE will validate them. Be sure to have your info each week with your scores and Judges name written on it, so take the bottom half of your score sheet or take a picture with your phone so that you have this information to enter. Also please be courteous of the other members that are not participating in the Open, make arrangements with a Judge (there is a list on the board) if you are complete the workout outside of Friday classes and Friday Night Lights. We do not want to effect the classes by taking away the coach to judge your workout. Please plan ahead!

18.1 was exciting and threw out a challenge for some that have never used a 50 or 35 pound Dumbbell before. Each week is a new challenge that you have signed up as a competing athlete in the Open and are taking on this challenge. Give it everything you have got! Dig deep and keep your head in the game. Some workouts you will walk away feeling  confident and proud, others you might finish feeling as tho it could and should have gone better. Take those feelings and apply them to the next week to dig a little deeper. Good Luck to ALL of you.

I would like to thank you all for all the love and support that comes from this family we have created here at CrossFit Pride. As the owner I can proudly say that we have a special group of individuals here that all contribute to what creates us as a fitness community. As with any new year it is your chance to set a goal and to work your rear off to meet that goal. Having a fitness goal and succeeding will roll over into that of our personal lives, creating a more positive outlook and feeling of accomplishment. We sometimes get caught up in our daily routines and push aside things that are important to us because of work, kids or just daily challenges, your workout is your time to build a better you. You walk through the doors here at CrossFit Pride to be greeted by a Coach or friend, put your stuff down and grab a pvc pipe to start getting your body moving. Minute by minute the day is not a thought, it is the moment that becomes your focus. Reading the workout on the board maybe for the first time since it was posted or maybe just trying to determine a plan for what is to come in that hour, comparing the times or weights for the day, finding that person’s name that you chase and having that moment of ” I am coming for ya”. We are all doing this for the same reasons, just at different speeds. We are choosing to be healthier, be stronger, be more confident, be willing to take a chance, get out of our comfort zone and to become happier individuals because we are choosing to do something that we enjoy and makes us feel good in the end (you do enjoy it cause you keep coming back through the doors). That feeling of success when you finish a WOD that was so so terrible while the clock was ticking, That feeling of walking with your head held a little higher cause you rocked that workout!

With that said, I am excited for the upcoming year. I have plans, ideas and wants for our gym. We will continue to provide you with quality coaching and programming to improve your skills and weights, along with improving your fitness and health as an overall. Choose you and your health and have FUN doing it with us at CrossFit Pride. Cheers to 2018
